Golden Acre Park

Golden Acre Park is a regular favourite with families of all ages and consists of over 52 hectares of gardens and woodlands stretching out from a central lake.  A good day out for visitors is provided and there is a range of walks from gentle strolls to longer rambles. Many horticultural features have been created including an extensive limestone and sandstone rocks gardens, a large display house with a mountain stream, alpines together with the National Collection of Lilacs, a miniature railway garden, a cottage garden, heather garden, an arboretum, Rhododendrons and Azaleas that provides the park with a strong horticultural emphasis.  Themed gardens include trials for Dahlias, Chrysanthemums and a vegetable area. Enjoy the summer bands in the park with entertainment from some of the region's leading brass bands. From the Bakery Coffee House there are good views across the park, with a scree garden in the foreground leading down to the ornamental pond and fountain, beyond which is a grassed area and the pinetum.
