A unique example of a 19thC water-powered site, including a mill, house and workshop, all on an island which once was home to a self-sufficient community. Two fully-restored 18ft waterwheels. Drive belts, pulleys, stone crushing machinery, lathes, even the blacksmith's forge. Displays describe work at the mill, while a video tells the story of life on the island. On special days the steam-powered derrick is run, other attractions include a slide show on life and work in south Leeds.
