Guitar Night brings Grammy Winner to Leeds

On Friday July 6th 2007, The Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park, Leeds will play host to a special night of entertainment celebrating the acoustic guitar. The event is being run by local guitarist Jon Gomm, described by Acoustic Magazine as "one of the world's most successful, gifted and inspirational guitarists". Jon plays at similar Guitar Nights and Festivals around the UK and Europe, and decided he has waited long enough for Leeds to have its own. He invited Amrit Sond, winner of the 2005 Grammy Award for "Best Instrumental Pop Album", and was delighted when he accepted. Raised in Kenya and then Kuwait, Amrit is steeped in the rhythmic traditions of African and Middle Eastern music. Finally Michael Berk, whose playing is described as "jaw-dropping and spell-binding", will also be performing.

Tickets are £6, from Jumbo Records, Tel: 0113 2455570. Visit www.jongomm.com for more details.
